The 2010 Congressional Honors Awardees

  Senator Sherrod Brown

Representative Bill Young

Each year, The National Capital Area Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society recognizes two Members of Congress who have been instrumental in forwarding and advancing support for blood cancer research as well as being champions of other matters that would be of concern to patients and their families fighting cancer through the Congressional Honors Awards.

The awards are presented in fond memory of Congressman Joe Moakley, who succumbed to leukemia in 2001 and who was honored posthumously with the 2002 Congressional Honors Award.  The recipients are recognized at an exclusive reception on Capitol Hill with members of Congress and staffers from both sides of the aisle.

Sponsors are invited to attend this private reception and also receive recognition benefits at the reception, as well as at the Leukemia Ball, commensurate with their sponsorship level.

Funding for the Congressional Honors Awards supports LLS's research programs. Funds generated through The Congressional Honors Program support world-renowned researchers at some of the country's leading research facilities.
